Todd,

Go to Red Rock Manufacturing click on Products and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the Ferguson Transport Lock.

I have added a live hydraulics kit to my 8N and used to have the same issues as you -- having to get off the tractor, disconnect the drive shaft to the brush mower so that I could safely lift it for the drive home, etc. No more!! Don't want the mower blades turning - turn off the PTO. You still have hydraulics to lift it. Gives you complete control. And, considering safety, the only time my PTO is spinning is when I am mowing (it's the only implement I have that requires the PTO). So, at no other time is there any danger of getting anything caught in the spinning shaft. Before the kit my PTO was always on so I had hydraulics.

Ty, since the bush hog is the only time I need it I think I'll try the Red Rock lock.

I probably ought to mention that there have been rumors, mostly from the Ferguson camp, of axle housings cracked when a heavy implement is allowed to bounce up and down at speed with the lock engaged. It's not something I spend much time worrying about, let alone forgoing using this handy little device, but something to keep in mind when one is barreling down a bumpy dirt road.
