Stolen Ford 9N

I had this tractor at a "friends" house. It had a blown motor and was parked in front of his house. I assumed he had moved it around back and he thought I had picked it up. It was located in Bretheren MI. Any help in recovering or prosecution of theif will be greatly appreciated.

Tim, did you mean Brethren up by Manistee?
I'm quite a bit South of there, but I'll keep an eye open.
Not much worse than a thief.

Looks like a 2N to me since it has the tube type radius rods and a 9N had I-Beam type

Check every scrapyard or metal recycler within 50 miles and I bet you'll find it. Metal is up pretty good and people will steal anything for scrap. Good luck.

DEFFINATELY start calling junkyards and scrappers.

some places will 'haul off' non running vehicles and pay cash.

someone might have seen it setting there weeks, and when the guy left for work.. drove over and called a scrapper to haul off his dead tractor..

Yes this was in Brethren, Michigan. It has been gone for about a year now. There is also a narrow from AC that was sitting next to it that did not disappear. I"m assuming it was stolen for parts & scrap.
As for 9 or 2, it was the first (and only) tractor I have purchased. Bought from a local flea bay seller that had it listed as an 8N. Apparently neither of us knew any better.

Wow, I hate to say it but if it has been gone for a year, it's
probably gone for good. :(
9N/2N, not much difference really. Not an 8N though.

Did you have the serial number written down or better yet was the tractor registered on one of the tractor registry boards? Always a good idea to take a lot of pictures and -up close of the serial number especially for insurance purposes. Your homeowners policy usually will cover it but since this was at a friends' house, I don't know. One unique identifier is the blue oval FORD badge on the hood -that is not an original Ford Tractor part. Another too is the front rims -not original Ford parts. Those two items are what might enable you to identify your tractor if indeed it is in a local boneyard. It sounds like a local job. The thieves would have had to been watching it for a while to determine when to strike. Sad to see but nowadays nothing is safe.

I'll be up near there on Bear Creek for a couple of weeks in Oct. I will check with my friends and relatives many whom are really into old tractors and see what they have heard. Small town, news gets around. Tires are priced like gold, those rears look worth having.

At least you learned where NEVER to leave your stuff. If someone's tractor, car, truck, bike or whatever is sitting at my place, and is moved a few feet, I'm asking questions. First comes everyone here, then the owner. I wouldn't be leaving anything else there, and if you have anything else there now, you'd better take it home if you'd like to keep it.
