Dollarbill, thanks again for your patience and advice regarding my earlier post related to new points for my 53 Jubilee.
When installing the points I would loose voltage, as if there was a short of some type. After three days of rewiring, clean connections, etc. with no positive results, I took your advice that the new points might be bad.
So I went back to the parts place and exchanged the points for another set. BUT still had the same problem, as soon as the points touched the distributor, voltage would stop. More tinkering and more frustration!!
I took the points from my other Jubilee, which I use for shredding, AND PRESTO, I got spark to the plugs. Put some Starting Fluid in the carb., and after sitting for almost 5 years, the tractor started. Just to verify, tried some old points I had kept from another ford tractor and the Jubilee turns on fine.
The problem - seems like TWO (12) MADE IN CHINA BAD point sets. (Tried these 2 new ones on the good running Jubilee, and sure enough, no voltage.)
Thanks for your persistence. David
