i have a 52 8n oil is leaking ware governor meats the block so i want to tight them didnt need to ok now what so i made a call was told to replace o ring pulled distributor no o ring ok was told this year didnt have one now what to do

You could make a gasket but I'm wondering if the breather isn't plugged up? It's normal for a well used engine to have some blow by but it should be coming out of the breather instead of forcing it past the distributor housing.

K, so what are we speaking of? A governor to engine or distributor to engine leak?

well i think am just going to take the hole thing apart and see if there are any gasket that are bad is there any thing i need to look for when i do this

Dennis, the way your original post is worded we don't know if you are referring to the distributor or governor. Throw us a bone!

The governor doesn't bolt to the block and neither does the distributor - They attach to the timing gear cover.

If it's leaking where the governor meets the timing gear cover, it's likely the aluminum governor housing is warped due to being overtightened. To fix this, disassemble the governor and wet sand the mounting surface using a dead flat surface like a piece of Plexiglas. One of the governor bolts is longer than the other so pay attention where the bolts come from - Putting the longer bolt in the wrong hole will chew up the timing gear.

Dennis, I don't know what you are doing! I did ask.

"i have a 52 8n oil is leaking ware governor meats the block..."
"..pulled distributor no o ring..."

So, once again is your oil leak at governor to engine OR distributor to engine?

Glad you found it - It should be a fairly straight forward R&R if it's the cover that the governor mounts to. If it's the front engine cover, then it'll be more difficult to get to with the engine in place.

in addition to the good advice given,
in that area, make sure the leak isn't coming from the front main.
the pulley will sling the oil to that area of the front cover and
underside of the governor.
