irregular gas flow from gas tank

I have a 8n that has been idle for approx 10 years.
I replaced battery,ignition stwich, Resitor
block,coil, points,& condensor.Oh also the solenoid.
I'm getting a irregular flow of gas from the fuel
tank. Also had the carb rebuilt. The good news it
cranked up & ran. The bad news it quits after about
5 minutes. Replaced the part from the gas tank to
the gas line. can anybody help?

Try loosening your gas cap. It may have a plugged vent.
If that helps, replace the cap or drill a hole in it and put a
cotter key in the hole to help keep dirt out.

You could have rust in your tank plugging your filer in the tank, sediment bowl or carburetor. Did you notice a fine brown powdery substance in your sediment bowl?

Terry.........you do know that a clogged vent dome at the front of yer gastank will prevent yer gravity fed gas from flowing to yer carb. Gitta modern NAA vented gas cap. ($15, cheap) Simple, eh?

Remember, yer weird 4-nipple front mount dizzy is designed to be removed and have the points (0.015") installed on the kitchen table. Just un-snapple yer capple and remove the 2-bolts and walk. Installation is a reversal of the removal ...except... finger start the 2-bolts and install yer new rotor. Now rotate yer rotor until the OFFSET drive tang fits into the OFFSET camshaft slot. Now tighten yer 2-bolts. Re-snapple yer capple and re-screw yer squarecan ignition wire.

BTW, surprizingly enuff, unlike points, resistors and condensers never wear out. But yer weaksister ignition switch is the cause of many "no-start" complaints. New switch $5; cheap.

Remember to "polish" the INVISIBLE corrosion from between the points after installation. Me? I clamp a clean $1-bill between points and pull. Iff'n yer really cheap, tear a strip from HEAVY brown paper grocery sack and use that. .........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Tank has its own vent that plugs easy.Ford and CNH would give you a free vented cap if you brought in your old cap and serial number. The new cap has a ball in it to prevent gas leakage if the tractor is overturned.

Have you cleaned the tank? often there is debris that will float around freely until flow of gas draws it to the screen plugging it. I have had good luck siphoning crud from tanks using one of those $2.99 transfer siphons. You can siphon into milk jugs and then pour the good gas back in. Before starting this procedure first meditate for 1/2 hour about all precautions that should be taken.
