If you have a good, strong, blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4" gap, stop messing with the distributor. Clean the new 437's and burn off any invisible residue that may be present.
While the plugs are out, roll the engine over several revolutions to purge the combustion chambers of excess gas, ether, etc. Double check your firing order.
Ensure a fully charged battery, then try to start using your normal procedure before the problem.

I have used a propane torch to cure a severely flooded engine in the past, but it's dangerous!

Hello Randy, I'm going to try that now. I don't have points but maybe your right. Seems like everything is ok but it just won't start. I still don't know what caused the original problem. I was going to change the plug wires but I didn't. So the wires are in the same firing order as before. I fixed a bad end I tore off taking it out of the dist. cap so I haven't changed them yet.
