Ford Reversable Scoop, Opinions please

Bought one new in late 60"s for $110. Saw one sell at machinery auction few weeks ago for $35. Most I see for sale are priced around $150. That"s the first one I"ve seen with the bent frame. Used it quite a lot till we got a loader.

have one exactly like that; paid about $45 at an auction about 6 years ago. Use it a lot; it is very useful. Mine is in about the condition that one is in.

I found a County Line model probably about 6 years old on CL for $200 that was still in good shape and had most of its original paint (with the normal surface rust). I thought it was a little high at the time but figured it would save my back and keep me from spending $400 on a new one that I would only use here and there. Seems like the price varies a lot on these if you can find them out there. The area, condition and what someone is willing to pay tends to dictate the going price. $250 for the one in the pic may be a little steep but the metal might be much more sturdy as well. I will say its a useful tool but not one I use every day.

if you want a good scoop they work fine.

I have one that must be newer or older as mine has a welded sq corner frame.

It was given to me from my uncle's estate.
I believe it was blue and you know me, if it sets on the ready line, it must be painted, greased/oiled and ready for action.

I have enjoyed owning it and carried many a scoop of dirt/gravel with it.

a poor man's front end loader.

it will not give way like some of the cheaper one's might.
be sure the trip mech works: as it has a few parts that much work properly for it to dump and then recatch.

price, i would not take near that price for mine, but it was my uncles and has family value to me.

if you do not have a front end loader, then get it, I believe you can always sell a good well made piece of equipment for a reasonable price. Plus it can dig forward or backwards, not all units can do that.

The Ford scoops are very good, better than you can buy today. I paid $175 for mine and find it very handy.
You will pay more for a new King Kutter but they are not as wello built.
I think $250 is not out of line for one. Of course I would try to beat him down to $200 or so.

good scoop
I've owned a few of the Fords, and some aftermarket ones.
The Ford ones are far superior IMO
about $150 will buy one around here.
I paid $100 for the Ford one I still have, but I wouldn't part with it for that $250 price.
I have a lot of loader tractors, so I don't really need it anymore,
but filled with cement weights, it makes a fine looking counterweight!

I have the blue one too, moved lots of dirt and gravel when we built our house. Very handy if you don't have to lift anything too high. It'll give your hydraulics a work out. That price is probably a bit too high but might not be for your area. Dicker with him and see what he'll do.

Mine is like Jerry's , it is not here , it is 170 miles away at my recreational; property . I think it is model 706 or something similar #. I've moved a lot of logs by backing under them chaining them to the bucket and lifting slightly & dragging them, also moved lots of dirt too, best implement I have.

Thanks to everyone!
If I can get it for 200 (or less) I am going to buy. I have a ditch full of gravel that needs cleaning out, and some road holes to fill.
