just when all was good...

Changed all the hydro fluid on the 53
Jubilee w/backhoe and loader. Changed the
oil. What do you suppose happened next?
Constant stream of oil out the timing
cover....old oil. I imagine rear main seal
had been leaking and now its really shot.
No cotter pin under tractor either. (I
checked). Can the seal be replaced by
dropping pan and pulling main bearing cap?
I don't really want to think about trying
to split that thing. What's the best seal?
No I don't have a book for it.

What do you mean by "timing cover"?
The little flap where you would aim a timing light?
I'm guessing since you mentioned the rear main seal.

On the Jubilee it is a lot easier to do the rear main then on the N series but still not fun. The oil pan can be dropped and the main seal put in but is not and easy thing to do since the crank shaft will not let you slide it in real easy

Hopefully we can get it done. What is the correct best seal to get? On a positive note some may remember I said it had no 2nd or 4th gear when shifting. Someone had bent the shift fork so it was impossible to use those gears. Removed it bent it back and have all 4 gears again. Hoe response is so much better also now that the white/caramel colored watery hydro fluid is gone in tank. Tranny fluid was awful also. Rear end had about a quart of what looked like used motor oil in it. . Certainly not 8quarts of anything! Some dipstick also swapped top covers so there was no fill place for the sump except beings the quadrant was not in place allowing water in we filled through there and will plug that hole and use as a fill spot. Odd thing clutch still worked great although oil soaked.
