Tranny question

I have a 47 9n. When I start it up the tranny makes a rattling sound. When you depress the clutch pedal just a little bit it will quit. Also, it will not rattle in gear while you are moving. Take it out of gear and let off the clutch pedal and it will start rattling again. Can anyone tell me what may be the bearing or whatever that could be making this sound.

can't tell you. I can't hear it!

+1 for the throw out bearing - Your description is classic symptoms. May last a while then again it may not.

You must split the tractor to repair it - Run it till it gets to be more than an annoyance.
