Steering shaft

The top bearing on the steering shaft has never been removed. I am having trouble getting it out to replace it. Is there a special way to get it out? I'm ready to apply heat.

The top race has a sheet metal ring that keeps you from driving the race out.I got a long punch at a used tool store and ground a notch near the point.That let me get at edge of the race to drive it out.The notch weakens the punch so it shouldnt be used for other jobs.You cant weld a bead in the race surface. that will shrink it after it cools.The top bearing and race never get any oil.The bearing usually breaks up.

weld it out. low amps.. 6013 rod and weld onthe face. let cool a second and slam down on bench.. will fall right out..
