I run a 4 footer on my 8ns and like it. If you are not doing large areas it will be fine. If you find you need a bigger one, you can always sell it and maybe even make a buck or two on it.
I would buy it myself. Opinions will vary!!

Sight unseen, perhaps @ $100. but never @ $300. Around here you can buy a nice used 5' bush hog type unit for $300 every day. Even a super nice 4' mower here wouldn't bring over $300.

Pig in the Poke turned out to be a Woods in pretty nice condtion, so I grabbed it. Sunny day in backroads Vermont turns me into a sucker who will buy anything if its rusty enough.

Not many $300 bush hogs around here - I think the problem is we don't have enough real farms to maintain a good supply of used implements, but we have a lot of suburban and hobby farmers fighting over whatever used stuff does appea, which really runs up the prices.
