What size is it? My Dad has been everywhere trying to find one--I didn"t know it was that special and hard to find. Thanks

1/8" NPT. Not special or hard to find.

Go to a hardware store and get a pipe plug. I'd go with a brass one, but they can round easier than the steel.

Just think, one day you will be old like me and you can have yours raised and the grands can come(like our three did today) then u send them home..

My brother says the best thing about nieces or nephews is that at the end of the day you give them back.

He hasn't got any(yet). Oh how he'll learn...

since you are making a hardware store run,
these are very handy, especially with today's
water-attracting gas.

Thanks to Ken, I think, for this pic from the archives

Just picked one up today at ACE hardware for $2.99. Actually two of them. I changed the one on the oil filter also.

1/8 NPT Brass. They had both a box or square head and a hex head. I always buy the hex heads

I prefer this socket head style. A buck each at McMaster and comes with a sealant already applied to the threads.

Where and What is this McMaster's? I don't have one up here in the North East?
I see that you have mentioned them a few times.

I wish I would have had thought about placing a petcock valve on both the carb and the oil filter canister. Makes it very easy to drain. No tools needed.

He checked at the local O"Reilly"s(10-12 miles from where he lives) and they had no clue.. He finally did what I told him to do and got the 1/8 npt brass plug at Auto Zone.. I had told him a week ago to just go to the hdwe store..Anyway, I think he went to at least 5 places before anyone had a clue what to do for him even though he had the old one in his hand..Thanks for everyone"s help..One stop was at a place that sells some parts for the Ns..They likely had it but they have never been known for their great service..Several yrs ago I went there and he really wasn"t interested in looking for the N valve guide seals I needed but he did since I had the old one in my hand and he could go to the bin and match it without having to put any effort into having to look it up in a parts catalog... I have bought very few things from this place-I try to stay away. They really don"t care if you come in the door or not unless you are looking for a tractor or zero turn mower or some other big ticket item..Another place he went was suppose to be a place that specializes in fasteners and they were blown away, had no clue..Moral of the story-don"t go to Brookhaven or McComb, MS if you need a nut or bolt.

TheOldHokie gave us a good tip, about the round one . Once while brush hogging in deep scrub trash I had my drain opened, by a sapling I guess.

Good point--my Dad actually mentioned that this might happen-he went back with the hex head plug.
