8N position control issues

I recently bought a '48 ford 8n. When I put the position/draft control lever into the vertical position to set it in position control, the implement lifts off of the ground. It will do this regardless if the touch control is lifted or lowered. Is there some sort of calibration that I need to do to get the position control in a usable position for a brush hog? It is a foot and a half off of the ground when the touch control is fully lowered and the position control is on. Any help is much appreciated! I am new to all of this so please forgive any wrong terminology I may have used. Thanks!
 
All sort of things can cause it to act that way.

One common old farmer fix to the lift when it got out of adjustment and wouldn't raise the implement high enough was to open the right side inspeciton plate and bend the control rod that reaches from the top linkage to the bottom where the control valve is so to push the control valve in further.

Open the right side inspeciton plate and see if that long control rod is bent to point the end forward. If it is you will need to take the lift cover off and adjust and repair/straighten the control rod etc.

I will vouch for Zane's jig. I have used one to
repair several 8N lifts. It is much easier than
following the instructions in the FO4 manual.

I am not a hydraulic expert, that's why I suggested you post here.
Lots of these guys are, and I'm confident you'll get the answers you need.
The more information you can provide the better answers you get.
