OLD suggested that I put some ATF in the cylinders, which I did. Compression check blew my thumb off the spark plug hole. Noticed this morning on the way to work that the ATF was on the garage floor. Wouldn"t this point to a blown head gasket or cracked head. I had no time to investigate this A.M.

Might mean a leak in the manifold gasket or the manifold. And that might lead to a no start situation.

If you filled all the cylinders then at least one will have the exhaust valve sitting open so yep will let some out and onto the floor. But as H Cooke say may also have a manifold leak and that could be your problem also. If the intake is leaking it will not pull the gas into the cylinders

Old timer (CAPTAIN) has a pallet loaded with manifolds. The one that I personally like is for a '32 FORD FLAT HEAD.

I am already thinking that I could recycle the manifold and those header pipes. CHROME plated on my 9N.

The rest are for old CHEVY engines.

I will make offer this early PM.
