I have an 8N thats burns some oil. Was wondering how thick of oil I could use safely. Right now Im using 10W30.

You'll get plenty of opinions on oil Wayne.
I use 15W-40 in mine, mainly because I buy it in bulk.
Of course that won't fix the oil burning.
How much oil does it burn? Is it fouling out the spark plugs?
You could use anti-foul adapters on the plugs to prevent that.
How's the oil pressure holding up?
An in frame "rebuild" isn't all that expensive either.

This time of year a guy can run a straight 30 or 40 or even 50W oil and be just fine. In the winter you need thinner but right now you do not. I have one tractor that I run a 60W oil in but it only gets run once in a while and has not had any engine work done to it since my grand father had it and if even then it would have been done in the 40 or early 50s if at all

pull plugs and look. jugs pumping will be black and shiney and fouled.

anti foulers can help..and I like 15w40.. but as another poster said. i just use it alot and have it on hand.

if only 1 lung is pumping.. might be broke OC ring.. might pull hed and pan for a re-ring, cyl hone, ridge ream and new sa,e size bearing shells.

likely pick up some compressiont and il pressure.

maybee even hand lamp and reset valves.

cheap po-mans in frame..
