Just received a new all metal proof meter cable

...But the cable didn't come with a C-Type washer or as the 8N manual calls it a retainer on the proof meter end of the cable. I cant figure out what exactly this washer is, looks like, made of or if needed. Cant find it listed any where or a good picture of it.

Do I need it? Is it more of a sealing washer to keep oil out of the proof meter cable?

I have NO idea, but, having oil on that cable is a good thing !

I replaced my cable a few years ago and don't recall that washer. It was an easy swap-out and I haven't had any problems with it. I haven't oiled it any.

I like graphite on speedo cables.

I like graphite on speedo cables.

very thin film of White litho is what i've used before in old mechanical tach hook-ups, brake cables etc.

Make sure the proofmeter is not seized up.The new cable will break.

Never had one. Ordered off of ebay. Adding new dash panel as well.
