repairing hyd on 8n

I have a 1951 8n that has a leaking hydraulic system and was curious if I needed a total repair kit with the chambers or the basic kit without the chambers. I am planning on changing the piston to a NAA with a O"ring is this a good move or not. Reason for rebuild is the pump is starting to knock after a good work out and she leaks down even with nothing attached. Was also curious if I needed to purchase one of Zane"s jigs so that I can put everything back to together. If I left something out that I might need out for the rebuild please some one let me know. this is my first rebuild and I work the tractor daily. I really appreciate the help you all gave me on my last post

Do the repairs one at a time.

The top cover & leaks are separate from the knocking pump issue.

" I am planning on changing the piston to a NAA with a O"ring is this a good move or not." Yes. And a new cylinder is also wise.

" Was also curious if I needed to purchase one of Zane"s jigs so that I can put everything back to together. " Yes. Buy it.

" Reason for rebuild is the pump is starting to knock after a good work out " One of my worker 8N's has been doing that for 10 years. I'd leave it be.

" she leaks down even with nothing attached." Rebuilding the lift cylinder will fix that.

Hey,! thanks Bruce I Appreciate it I have no external leaks it is all inside. One day I should post the ole girls pic

I would take off the right side inspection cover, lift something heavy on the lift and then take a look see to check where the leaker is: top side dribbling down, relief valve swirling under the fluid, rarely the tube going up to the top, etc. before pulling the top cover to fix it, as it's always nice to know what you going to fix before you tear into it.
