new distributor--what adjustments would you expect before..

...you install it? I am considering replacing the distributor with a complete unit (dist/cap/points/gaskets). 9N front mount, 12 V round can conversion. It looks like these units are fully assembled and ready to install. For those that have purchased this item, do you know if they are set up, timed and the points gapped properly?

I know with the distributor in your hand or on the workbench, these things are easy to check....and I would double check before installing anyway, but what I am asking is does the factory set these up?

Thanks!
Mike

What parts are worn on your distributor?

Why not replace the worn parts on the one you have?

Mike.......I doubt the factory sets the points (0.015") as you point out its so eazy to check before installing. Me? I'd polish the INVISIBLE CORROSION from between the points by pulling a $1-bill between the clamped points. I would be more concerned that the centrifugal advance weights/springs work by twirling the rotor drive tang. Remember, the timing is 1/4" and adjusted by a screw on the side of the 4-nipple dizzy. ........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister
