I have no experience myself but I have read on these forums probably twenty times in the last year, that condensers do frequently go bad and that new ones can be bad from China. Or maybe they go bad on the boat on the way over.

more like... i used 5 new set point and condenser on 1951 ford tractor side mount dist.. .. none of would keep it running..even rebuild carb didn't help..

so i bought a mf point set and still the same problem . i found a set of point that fit gm 6 cly car
install the condenser from the kit and turn it over and it fired right up and ran..
still don't under stand why that happen the condenser of chevy condenser work on that tractor...

looks to me like they saying they bought 5 sets of points for a 8N and installed each of them in a blue tractor then rebuilt carb 6 times then bought and installed a set of points from a Massey Furg and the blue tractor still wouldn"t stay running soooooo then installed a condenser from a chevy 6 cyl and now it runs.

OMG if I get this right I should be able to understand my grandkids LOL

A condenser is a condenser. Makes little difference if for a chevvy or Ford. It does make a difference if it is good or bad. Did you check any of them?

robably didn't have anything to do with condenser itself. More likely that you unknowingly disturbed something else, creating a connection or breaking an unwanted connection, that "fixed" it. You can probably replace any one of those other condensers, carefully, and still make it run. Life is funny that way.
