8N starter problem

Put a starter on my 52 a few months ago and once and a while it would turn real slow while cranking. Would always speed up and crank if I tried again.
Took it apart Monday to check the brushes and saw where the armature had rubbed the coils a little.
Then I saw the bushing had slid out of the housing next to the Bendix. Slid it back in and staked it in place with a punch. No more problems.

(quoted from post at 19:06:49 06/06/13) It sure is a good feeling when you can chase down a problem with positive results!

Yep, I enjoy working on the older stuff that is easy to get to. Get so frustrated on the new fangled stuff that takes a computer to find the problem.
