As fer you having power at the bulb at all times, well that is kinda right. You should have battery volts at one terminal and ZERO volts at the ground terminal. Iff'n you have ZERO volts at BOTH terminals, guess what? Yer ignition switch ain't ON.
The dealer installed headlites could have switch mounted ennywharr. While the original headlite switch was a 2-position push-pull switch, ain't no law that sez you can't use toggle switch. Remember, most hardware store toggle switches are NOT contact rated for continuous headlite duty. .........switching OFF for now, Dell
