hydraulic lift problem

I noticed that my 3 pt lift settles quite rapidly with weight on it (occasionally)then if I jiggle the lever it will come up again. Sometimes response time is quite slow too. It seems to me like something is sticking or the lever is out of adjustment?

9n? 8n? bulldozer?

if an 8n.. check the control valve.. it may be sticky from gritty oil.

pull inspection cover and you can manually manipulate rod at rocker to pump

Hi their, I found out that my 8n that I bought from my neighbor, before when he owned it, he put 80W90 gear oil GL-5 in their. Do you think that ruined or harmed the 3 point system, hydraulic pump and the lift cylinder etc? thank you.

the 80w90 gl 4/5 oil surely didn't harm the lift cyl. as fo rthe pump. that's a hair split. No.. t dodn't hurt the pump. technically.. the sulfur compounds in the oil MAY attack the yellow metal in the pump. that is a long, long term issue. and not something that you worry about short term. that said. many 80w90 gl4/5 oils are also mt1 rated and or yellow metal safe anyway. so may be a completely moot point.. not just a point of 'minutia'.
