PTO seal and gasket

pto leaked quite a bit ,i drained the hydro oil which was nasty full of sludge, gonna try to put my hand in and clean it out.Removed the pto shaft, removed the snap rings housing and bearing assembly, got to the seal and it looks nothing like the old original, the new one from yt is more narrow than the old one.I do not know how far im suppose to press the seal in.there is a snap ring do i press it right to the snap ring,i pressed the seal in from the outside,i wish these parts had some kind of install directions since some of them are not factory exact, the book is vague on the seal install, can someone please help again. Thanks

post a pic of that seal if you can.

this is the 3rd time ina a couple weeks i've heard people mention a substantial difference in seals.

I hav ebeen buying my seals from CNH. it's been a lil over a year since I bought any. I usually keep a few on the shelf for when needed.

I wonder if a supplier has changes the seal width specs.

I just pressed mine far enough that it didn't ride in the old groove. I don't know if that's the right way or not ,but it hasn't leaked in over a year since I put it on.

The original seal is leather made by Chicago Rawhide(CR) and the width = .879"

The replacement rubber lip seal, D9NN703BB, width = .630"

length of the original sleeve = 1.000"
lengh of replacement sleeve = 1.100"

The replacment seal casing should be pressed to contact the outer ball bearing race with garter spring facing inward... all the way to the bottom. Sleeve champher facing outward.

Hopping the replacement sleeve had sufficient length to handle two new rubber seals, but no cigar.
