another 8 N mystery

OK. Got that 8 n running. It had been sitting for 5 years but put some atf in the explosion holes and let it sit for 2 days and then decided to start the thing.
Sprayed some starter fluid in the carb hole and hit the starter and i could not believe my ears... it started immediately. Smoked some but ran fairly good.
Turned it off and hit the starter and it fired up as soon as the motor turned over.
So, i let it idle for about 30 minutes and it just purred like a kitty. Then i goosed it and that is when the problems started. IT smoked like crazy at higher rpm"s.
Went back to idle and the smoking stopped,,, can"t figure that one out.
Maybe somebody out there knows the answer to this cause it sure has me baffled.
Stars good every time , idles good all the time with no smoke and seems to have lots of power.

What color is the smoke? If blue, could be overfilled air cleaner or internal problems with engine. If black, too much fuel.

Let it run for a long while and it may clear up if rings are stuck.

Did you change oil? Need to.

OK. i did change the oil and it was running without the air cleaner attached.
The smoke is more a white than anything else. I only ran it for the 30 minutes or so and maybe if i run it and put a load on it, the smoke will stop??
So what cause's the white smoke?

White would indicate water or coolant. Fill radiator to the absolute top and check for bubbles when running. If bubbles, leaking head gasket, or something worse as cracked head or block.

(quoted from post at 08:28:58 05/12/13) White smoke is coolant, AND it has a funny sweet smell.

I would check the smell also , fresh oil can burn to make a grayish white smoke that is easily confused with white coolant smoke .

I would keep a close eye on it and run it until I could see which fluid is getting low .
