How did it work in the snow? I've been curious about that and have thought that even with the tracks the front tires would not provide much in the way of steering control.

How was your sugaring season? Ours was outstanding - couldn't keep up.

As for price, I'd guess $1,800 - $2k for the tractor plus $1k for the extras (Hupp and tracks).

Colin, MN

Worked good in the snow, plenty of traction. Needed brakes to steer whether snow or mud - 3-ribs would have helped...some, anyway. The tracks combined with the stone boat left the trails much smoother than using his 7710 with the sap tank on the 3-point.
Best sugar season we've had, at least in my memory. My uncle always hopes to get at least 100 gallons of syrup. His best year had been 120 gallons. This year he ended up with 170 gallons. I was thinking in the neighborhood of $3k for everything as well.

Sounds like your uncle has quite an operation. Our yield was 1 gallon to 34 gallons. We made 15 gallons of syrup - pretty small by comparison.

Fordfarmer,
Just picked up a 17 inch wide half track set this past winter. They ran about $550, tracks only. They were worn but I will never wear them out. There were different widths available with different cleat configurations. One version collects a lot of snow and the other released snow sticking to the cleat. The latter has an L shaped profile. A hint on steering with half tracks, simply wrap the tracks around the rear tires, forget the idlers. Let the air out of tires when putting them on and inflate to desired pressure. It is definitely worth a try.
Have used these for over 50 years in northern Minnesota.

I was just watching a old Elvis Presely movie from the early sixties, Jail House Rock. In the opening scene it has Elvis driving up with a 8-n with tracks as shown above. As a n owner I just about jumped rite off of the couch. Driectv has his movies running all month. Check it out.
