Battery door hinge rivet tool

Has anyone found a riveting tool that will reach/fit to put the battery
door hinge rivets in the hood without removing the gas tank?
I have a press/clamp type riveting tool, but it's too big to fit in there.
Two hammers would work if I wanted to tear it down that far, but I
really wanted to just put the rivets back in without taking the hood off.
I'm working on a '51 8N.

Royce.......frickin' rivets. Industrial engineers love'em 'cuz they are cheap. Me? I'd drill'em out and use SCREWS & LOCKNUTS. .......rivetless Dell

Thanks guys, yes, bolts would work and pop rivets would probably work too.
I was trying to get the original look on this one.
So what I think I'll do is put it on with 3/16 pan head stove bolts, then fill
the screwdriver slot with body filler, sand the top a little flat and paint them.

On one of my 8n's the front part of the hinge is mig welded to the hood and the rivet holes were filled before I painted it. it's been to a lot of shows in the last 10 years and nobody ever said a word about it. I guess the correct police aren't as good as I thought but there quick to point out that my 39 9n should have 32's on not 28's. I just tell them to go find me a cheap set of 32's and I'll be glad to put them on it. If it's a working tractor I would just put some machine screws and lock nuts on it

I usually have a lot of fun with correct police.
If you've seen pictures of some of my workers, they're no where close!
I was helping a buddy out with this one, and he's debating on keeping
it or selling it, so I was trying to get it close without stripping it down.
My idea of a "complete restoration" falls closer to the correct police version.
But it doesn't have to be "restored" to be a great looking and working tractor.
I think my little Allis looks good, but the chrome stack, 12V alternator
and side mounted headlights would give the correct police fits!

I guess we got a little off the the original topic
but I could go on and on about the correct police.
One guy at a show last year just would not leave
me alone about the 28" inch wheels on my 9n. I
went to my truck and got my copy of the 9n option
catalog which shows the optional duel rear wheels
which were 28"' I told him that's what I had I
just left the outside ones at home. He finally
left me alone

"I guess we got a little off the the original topic"

Yeah, maybe we got off topic. That doesn't bother me much.
I hear you on the guys at the shows though.
I had a guy pick apart one of my 8Ns that was for sale, just to
tell me that he repairs them and could fix "all that was wrong"
for about what I was asking for the tractor.

Royce, I use a little bolt made for repairing headlights for 32 to 34 Ford Headlights. It"s like a carriage bolt, but without the square flange under the head. They are 1/2" long, and the heads look just like a rivet. I bought a sack of them years ago from Bob Drake Reproductions in Grants Pass, OR, part number A-13045-R. Dennis Carpenter probably carries them as well. They look just like the origonal rivets.
I was going to take a picture, but the battery is dead on my camera. Best of luck!!!
