oh man, new brake problem

Just finished the install of the new brakes and sure seal on the left side of my "46 2n and I have a big problem which I should have thought about before putting everything back together. Here"s the deal.

When I tried to re-install the brake plate inside the drum, it was an extremely snug fit. So snug, I needed to use a 2x4 with hammer to push everything back together. The brake adjustment bolt was turned as far as I could get it to go counter clockwise but it was still very tight.

With the wheels and brakes reinstalled, the left brake pedal doesn"t depress at all and the left wheel does not want to move. I got it going by holding the right brake lever down but even after a quarter mile drive, the left brakes are snug.

Ideas?

Did you replace the felt seal? I had trouble with my 39. The seal rubbed almost to stopping, I ended up with no felt seal. Darn trailor queen anyway. joe

I had the same problem with a 41 9n. I figured out my adjuster was rusted bad in the end. I let it soak with kriol and worked it in and out for a while and it would go a little further each time. Back both adjusters all the way out and measure to see if the good side is longer.
