How to remove front wheel

I need to replace the front tire, but can not get the rim off the tractor. From the axle diagram I cannot tell if I just need to remove the nuts, or if the hub also needs to be removed. HELP! I am running out of liquid wrench

What tractor??? You should have either 5 or 6 lug bolts just like on a car or truck. You remove them and the wheel should come off. If not then it is rusted on so try this. Loosen the lug nuts just a little bit and drive it around turning in a figure 8 sort of thing. Watch the wheel closely for it to pop free stop then remove the rim

ditto what old said.

can also bang on it with a hammer and block of wood.

note.. if this is a single wheel trike from an 01 series.... hub's coming off. ;)

Pete,

I had to beat the He!! out of mine, like others said - loosen nuts, smack around rim with a BFH, don't beat on the RIM unless you have something to soften the blows.

Thanks for your reply - I have a 1950 8n - don't know what "a single wheel trike from an 01 series" is or why the 'hub's coming off". Can you explain further?

I did not think the hub had to come off, but the rim is really stuck - been banging on it - If I could get the tractor started I would try the driving it around method. Guess I'll need to get it started first, then work on the tire.

Since these wheels don't fit modern tire machines, when I went to have my tires changed, the tractor tire dealer jacked it up and changed them on the axle. Smart guy!

since you have a 50 8n.. and not a 1 wheeled trike from an 01 series.. then you won't have to take the hub off.. so why explain?

if you have the lug nuts off.. and have doused the back side of the hub where it meets the rim with oil.. then just keep working it with a hammer and block of wood.

alternately.. if you have an air hammer.. it will liekly buzz it right off with a blunt tip.

buzz around the area where the lugnutz are.. that is where it is stuck..
