Do you think I could fix this?

Just wondering how bad a seized motor can be - not far from me and looks like a Jubilee? Are these fairly easy to work on and how on earth do you identify just how bad it is?

Ya never really know but if it was me, ask the person selling it if they know if its stuck cause it was run out of oil and seized or if it ran and sat so long it is just stuck. I don't like the tranny it has, but ask what they know about it,its not a cheap fix. The rear tires look flat and probably bad shape and should have had cal-chloride in them. Are the rear rims now rusted out? Is that front axle broke or wore out. Just remember most tractors with loaders in this condition were used like two rented mules. If I really-really wanted this tractor and I had the time and money and it will take both from what I see offer $500 and I bet they take it cause as it sit it no more then a obstacle to mow around. good luck

I guess if seized from sitting My question would be for how long. I've had a lot on sucess on engines 8/10 yrs or less after that it's a pig in poke. An engine tear down might be required. My question would be why was it parked and was there trouble with the SOS trans.
I don't know you capibilities so it's your call.
If you do go for it make sure you disengage the trans before moving it.

The Jubilee has a cute name but has a few problems. The worst being a weak rear axle housing. The part was in use from only one year and is hard to find if it breaks. If a tractor has bad tires I wouldnt buy it.Tire prices have gone nuts.I have 700 bucks worth of tires on a tractor I bought for 400 bucks years ago.Look for a 600 series,Ford fixed the Jubilee problems by then.If it has a vane pump thats more trouble.

The 671 is a 600 series not a jubilee and I would be more concerned about the SOS trans then the engine. Engines are much easier to repair than a bad SOS trans.

As others have said it is not a Jubilee but the better Workmaster. To me the deal breaker is the Select-O-Speed because it is an original as opposed to the second generation which is much better. So between the need for tires, unknown tranny condition and potentially bad motor. it would not be worth more than scrap to me.

If the SOS is good, the rest could be fixed.
Question would be is it worth it?
For the price of tires and an engine rebuild you
could buy a pretty nice already running tractor.

I see more than a $1000 worth of easily sold parts even if it never runs. The motor can be fixed. I defer to the folks more knowledgeable than me on the issues with the older SOS but transmissions can be replaced. I will also say that I mowed with an 800 diesel/SOS in the summer of 70 and I loved it - next best thing to HST I've ever used. Lots of work but looks to be in pretty good shape cosmetically and potentially a very nice tractor.

A properly working SOS is a dream to use. We had a 6000 Commander we used on the farm in the early 70s, loved that thing.
