rubbng block grease

The dab of grease that you should put on the rubbing block of the points....is that the same as dielectric grease? Also should I put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on the post that then point rotate on?

The correct grease is easy to find. NAPA carries it. p/n ML-1

The last thing you want is 3:1 oil on your points. Do not use dielectric either.

If you can't wait to put it back together, use a dab of bearing grease until you get the points lube.

Aerogel is in the capsule that comes with points. I use petroleum jelly if the points lack the capsule.

I just use plumbers grease - available from any hardware store or big box store like Home Depot, etc.
It comes in a plastic tube now.
One advantage it has is it's waterproof so if your tractor gets dunked in the river it wont wash off.

I would stick to Napa , Bosch , or mallory cam lube myself especially since most part stores have it or can get it .

It wasn't easy to find but it was there .

I would want something that is high temp so it will say on and something that is not flamable .
