I getting ready to install the oil gan and timing gear covers on my 48 8N (front dist.) Should I use the paper gaskets that came in the gasket set that I purchased, or would I be better off to use a product such as Gasket Sealer Type 2 or similar. I"ve had no experience using a gasket sealer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Note to GB in MT: Snow is gone here and the weather is warming up. Anxious to get started on my 8N and test out the TSX 33 that you overhauled (better than new)for me. I see that is still snowing out in your neck of the woods. BTW, is your email address still good?

I use a gasket spray on automotive paper gaskets if they are not horizontal. RTV gets used for "corners" in small amounts and where I have either pits in the metal surface or an out of flat surface such as a warped cover. Gerard

I use the gaskets and a very small amount of sealer on the ends. Use only a very small amount. If it squirts out on the outside most likely it is doing that on the inside as well. You don"t want a piece of sealer getting into your oil system.
