crankshaft pulley

Still need advice on my pulley downloaded some photos, hopefully i did it right, you can see the pulley is tight to the oil slinger and crank gear but if you look at the keyway slot, that is the space i have at the end of the crank also that i cannot tighten up,everything is tight.the old pulley looks shorter than the new solid billet pulley, will this difference make my belt jump off the pump. I purchased both the pulley and the new crank from YT,I just want to get this figured out before i close it up.The billet pulley definatley is built better than the flimsey original,my original had a big groove around it and leaked. Thanks for help

Did you actually compair the two to see the difference? I see what your saying though. It looks like it may never be a problem but wouldn't want to gamble. If all else fails maybe have the old one built up with weld and have it machined?

Chris,

Sorry I forgot about your previous post.
If your new pulley puts your belt out of line too much (which I doubt) then adjust your gen/alt brackets accordingly if really needed.

So how tight does the pulley go on the nose of your crank.
That was my ancient question :)
Do you have to tap it on or can you slip it on real easy?

Greg

it would not go on at all ,i took a small dremmel sand wheel and took it down a bit, know its fine snugly fits.i tapped it on the rest of the way once it hit the keyway,I put a 2" grade 8 5/8 bolt on with medium locktite and lock washer,i'll try spacing the geny if belt pops off hopefully not.thanks
