epoxy filled coil

Does anyone have pics/ descritions of how to drill thru epox filled sqare coil...I am assuming that mine is expoy since it is relatively new and no rivet on the top. I have a drill press plan on using that.

Newer epoxy coils are an absolute ----- to gut. Always had to cut working windows near bottom & fill back later. Some fellows came up witha short cut, where they drill holes to sever internal connections & allow connection of new external wiring, thus leaving guts & epoxy in place. Probably the smart way to go.

find old tar filled coil . very carefully mark and trim gm hei coil (85 chevy truck ) I use a band saw after all connections are made fill with tan hot glue (600.000V dielectric) be careful touching plug wires

I used a drill press and a metal cutting hole saw, worked fine
