DIY Parking Brake for the 8n?

Anyone ever made a DIY parking brake for the 8n? I'm thinking of something simple, like a half of the Far Mech on that Red Rock makes. Looks like it might be easy to do if not so elegantly by using steel instead of a casting, but it's hard to say for sure since I have never actually seen one in the flesh.

Not looking for something to hold both brakes at once, just something to keep the tractor from rolling at gates and such.

there should be a toothed parking brake on pedal assembly..push on pedal.. pull the rod attached to parking brake..should lock pedal down..to release, push pedal and it falls down ..releasing brake

as sid.. there should be a pwal nad sector plate that you can manually set.

not super high tech.. but works..

i have a to-20, where there is a master pedal for both brakes, on it have a toothed gear that can be set to hold like a parking brake,, maybe some how one can be converted onto a n-series

I realize the 8n already has a parking brake. I'm always afraid I'll snip my fingertips off some day when I am trying to use it in the dark.

What I am looking for, is some kind of extension handle.

then I sugest fabricating a cam operated one like RR has. should be exceedingly easy to make out of 1/4" material and a torch , and drill press and welder.

Have you ever seen the brake set up for a 601 series? There is a rod that hooks on to the pawl (toothed lever by the brake). On my 8n, I drilled a hole in the toothed lever and fashioned a stiff wire, ran it up under the seat. All I have to do to set the brake is push down the peddle and pull on the wire, brake is set. Push brake again and it releases by itself. Works pretty good.

ive been using a tooth off a cat 235 excavator bucket, tied to a piece of rope for a few years,on the jubilee, not really recommended but it will work, dangle it in front of the center of the rear tire and ease up until it stops, to remove back the tractor up, and lift it up with the rope, make a loop and hang it on the top link when running, this is probably going to hurt me someday lol but its been working

I fabricated a parking brake for my 8N which is simply a lever that sets the pawl when the brake pedal is depressed. To release, simply kick the locked brake. To mount remove two bolts from the inspection plate (R. side)) and install.

Used your idea today to fix the right brake on my 8N works great. The hardest part was getting the pawl off to drill a hole. The pin that holds it was rusted to brake rod, but PB blast got it loose.

I finally got around to taking some pictures hope this helps.

do you have a picture of what you made?
Thanks
