8N Ford tractor

Torri........heres the deal, the intake/exhaust manifold is held on by 2-schemes. COARSE thread studs that stick into the WET engine block coolant. So yes, you could puckey yer coarse threaded part of the manifold studs. Tighten to 40ft/lbs against the "barrel". The FINE threaded part of the studs hold the manifold against the block with a GASKET. Tighten the BRASS NUTS to 27ft/lbs. I use anti-seize on the BRASS nuts. Anti-seize is DIFFERENT from water block sealant. Understand the difference??? .......the leakless Dell

Thank you Torri!

You saved me the trouble of asking the very same question I"ve been trying to ask. For the last two days Chris here at YT has been working hard trying to get me so I can post again.

The exhaust manifold gasket on my 8N needs replaced. YT fixed me up with the gaskets. The aft exhaust manifold stud on my 8N came out with the nut. The nut is either frozen, cross-threaded, or more likely, somebody used a metric nut since I needed a 15 or 16 mm socket to remove it. Anyway, I decided to replace the stud and you helped provide the answer to the same question I had. Thank you.

And thanks much to Soundguy and Dell for the technical guidance.

Forgive me for hi-jacking your post.
Now I may need some training on how to upload pictures.
