leveling box hits trumpet

See Zane's story about "ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY" on page four of this forum. He was repairing what is probably wrong with your lift system.....just ain't completely broke off yet on yours.

Yeah but the lift works fine otherwise. If I take the leveling box off and replace it with one like the other side then nothing hits the trumpet. It just seems like the stop is set too low (1943).....

If you are refering to an 8N All I can add is that many of them do, usually due to wear. Try this, if your lift system is in good operating order switch to position control. The 8N lift in draft control will allow the lift arms to drop a few inches lower. Sometimes the additional height of lower limit in position control will be just enough to allow the leveling box to clear the trumpet.

I don't think there is an adjustable "stop". I believe the lower limit is determined by the piston touching the end of the hydraulic cylinder. If arms go too low it is because of wear in the parts, bending of the arm, or cracking of the connecting part between the piston rod and shaft(inside the top cover). If I am wrong, hopefully an expert will come into the conversation and straighten me out....unfortunately that is easier the fixing the problem with the hydraulic lift :>).

I didnt really think there was a "stop" either but it has been doing this for years in fact it is starting to wear a hole thru the trumpet....seems like if something was cracked or streched it would have broke by now.
