rustoleum paint professional or regular

hood is almost al done welded knew steel on whole bottom of hood . time to paint going to try hvlp . wondering what the diffrence is in professional and regular rustoleum and what benifits are if any with professional. ill try to get pics of hood when done . i did not put the contures back on bottom of hood but it looks good my neiabore 8n owner old boy liked it .sorry for spelling

We painted a 2N with regular Rustoleum, within 2 years it was as flat as primer, didn't use hardner, but I'd have to day I'd use the professional if I were to use Rustoleum again.
I bought a gallon of the TSC Magic in JD Green a while back, the intent was just to get everything green in the areas that are hard to get to, then use better paint to finish, I was so impressed with the usability and finish, I decided "what the heck" did the whole tractor, used hardner and shot it with my cheap HVLP gun...really looks great! Now we'll see if it lasts or fades! Used JD yellow on the wheels though.

Actually called, Rustoleum, Friday, and ask that same question on the "stops rust label" products

Answer is the professional contains more curring agent than the regular, which means it cures faster than regular.

Also the spray can is available in Professional label, but have not been able to locate.

All oil based alkyd paints will oxidize with time, it starts oxidizing as soon as it is applied.

Applying a clear coat will prevent the color coat from oxidizing.

bulldozer i se pro at lowes some lowes have more stuff than other so check more than one and walmart. i called rustoleum and said i cant clear coat.did they sat to you can clear coat

Try dupli-color brand, and use their clear coat. Works pretty good. As far as their color choice they use vin numbers, but I don't know about old tractor finishes they might have.

Coudn't get anyone to paint for me so I found a dirty gray at the powder coater for my '51 8N. Had everything sand blasted pounded out a few dents and had the parts powder coated. Learned a few things if you go this way, after sand blasting make sure any old reamaing paint is removed or it bleeds through. Powder coating doesn't like bondo leaves a blotchy finish. Had the fenders, dog legs, rear centers and an after market grill done gray and the seat and bracket done in a textuted black. I now now how to prep the hood for coating. Will try and post some pictures once hood is done.

I would use a better paint.
My dad brush painted his 2N with Rustolium and in just a few years it had faded to pink.
