My New Ford 8N

Well, not really. But, it sure seems like a new machine with the newly installed Hokie Hydraulics live hydraulics kit!! Whether you go with Zane's kit, TOH's or do-it-yourself from Kevin LaRue's How-To on the 'other 8N board' it is a huge improvement to the tractor.

I currently just have the hoses tied up with wire until I decide exactly how/where I want them secured. I also plan to come up with some sort of skid plate to mount over the hose/connections at the sump. And I guess it's time to get started on building a front grill - I have two that are in terrible shape but have sort of a plan in mind for building a new one and using parts from them (maybe). Also need to rebuild my bumper which has only one of the horizontal bars still in place. Not sure what the previous owner did to that!

Here are some pics showing the fittings into the test port, the standoff to move the muffler/tailpipe away from the tractor a little so as to not interfere with the test port connection, hi pressure hose routing, the actual pump and it's mounting plates, suction hose routing and the connection to the belly pump sump.

Not shown is the the pulley that came with the kit that drives the pump and the new king pin that is part of the pump mounting bracket. I also replaced the king pin bushing in the center axle along with the associated spacers and replaced the axle bolts because I had 4 different sizes/types that were all badly rusted.

what GPM pump did you get for you set up?

Did you put in a remote for a piece of eqpt or just for live hydraulics for the 3 pt?

I think it's between 2-3 GPM pump for just live hydraulics. I have no need for remotes -- well not at this time anyway.....

How about a little 1/2" steel "riser" for the test port connection so you can run the pressure line behind the steering arm and along teh top of thr transmssion and get rid of the wavy stuff that is making me seasick ;-) Like this but wih steel line and no quick connector. On the house - you were a very accommodating customer.

Well, I certainly wouldn't say no ;)

I really am happy with the kit. The lift is so much faster and more responsive than with my worn out -- apparently -- belly pump. If the weather holds, I will probably do some brushogging in the next few days (it's school spring break time) but will stay out of anything really nasty until I protect that sump connection.

That is great mbramble.
You will love haveing live hyds.
Now get TOH to rig you up with a little remote valve and buy or build yourself a hydraulic top link.
You will wonder how you ever got along without it.

Running the brush mower today and boy is it great to be able to turn off the PTO/mower blade and still be able to have the lift working! It is a new tractor -- or at least a very different one!!

Thanks TOH for a great product!!!
