Steering Wheel

How tight does the nut on the steering wheel need to be? I have an impact wrench and have basically an unlimited tightness. Tighten it until the nut stops? In the cosmic scheme of things I doubt it matters too much, but I thought I would ask.

there will be a finite amount you can travel.

first make sure the splined hub is seated onto the shaft and it's splines are good and cleaned ( assuming 8n+ ).

at that point.. you simply snug her down.. she should clamp hub to shoulder on shaft before threads bottom out in the acorn nut. I don't 'torque' mine.. I do also put a micro smear of neverseize onthe hub splines and threads.. so the next sucker ( maybee me? ) that has to take them off doesn't have to use a puller or cut the hub off.
