I have a 84 ford f150 300 6 .When i start it cold the engine lunges almost like pulling the choke and releasing it .It does this for a few minutes till it warms up.If you press on the gas it will stall .Manual choke so i khow thats not the problem. The butter fly in the exaust manifold is wide open all the time .Im leaning towards the electronic timing advance being the problem .Any advice would be appriciated . thanks

Believe it or not alot of I-6 engines do this. But it could also mean there is a vaccuum leak too.

have you gone to ..ford truck enthusiast..site.. i have several ford p.u. this site is as good for truck owners ..as this site is for tractors

Does it have an ignition controll module on the distributor? That could be it. It's a gray or blue remote looking thing bolted on with T27 bolts.

Thanks for the advice but i have checked all those things .to no avail.Thats why i think it may be the electronic advance. As soon as it warms up depending on out side
temp it smoothes right out.Is the advance temp sensitive? Why im asking is if you give it gas right after start up it back fires
