weak sparkies

Had the "run-for-a-little-while-then crap out" problem with my 12volt converted 1943 2N. Let it set for a minute and it would start up but only briefly. Gas supply was good and tank vent was functional so I installed a new coil and condenser. Now it will not start and the sparks are pitiful little things. My question is this: I installed a resister when I coverted to 12V. Should I remove it now that it has a 12V coil? And how about that factory original resister? Is that needed with the 12V coil?Greatful for help from anyone less electrically challenged than I apparently am.

ypass or remove your add-in resistor & keep the factory resistor.
