Crank Shaft Oil Seals

The front crank shaft oil seal is listed as 8N-6700 for the upper half and 8N-6707 for the lower half. What is the difference ?

Also the rear upper seal is # 8N6701 and the rear lower seal is #8n-6702. What is the difference.

I ask the question because the rebuild kit I purchased had two front seals with no identification and two rear seals with no identification. How do I tell what is what ?

The rear seals are very siniliar. The length looks exactly the same. However; one of the seals is about 0.005 inches thinner.

Thank you for any help that yoiu can give me.

Farmerhr........would you believe the difference is "color"???

Just soak them in HOT OIL fer couple of hours; and then ROLL them into the slots with BIG socket. Trim them "proud" by about 1/16" on both sides of each seal. NEW X-acto blade?; razor blade? I use chassis grease to hold the 2-part pan gasket onto the pan.

Be certain you GREASE yer oilpump gears before you put the pan on. ........HTH, Dell
