My tractor is a '51 8N - side mount - 12v.
Hard to start untill warmed up, then starts o.k.
The problem is that it has a tendency to fall on its face when I drive it.

What I've checked so far:
Points - Blue Streak set at .025
Plugs - Auto Lite #437, set at .026
Timing - Static-timed, seems to be right - (I don't hame a light)
Fuel flows a good stream from plug in bottom of carb.
Checked fuel for water and found nothing.
Found no debris or dirt in fuel.
Plug wires are going to the correct plugs.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

Sounds like a week spark or old gas or summer gas.
Check your spark at each plug with a spark plug gapped to 3/16 inch.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When was the last time you checked and cleaned the air cleaner?? Does it hurt or help to choke it?? Is your spark a mice blue/white and jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more?? Cam you adjust the main jet and get black smoke out of the exhaust?? If you can not adjust the main and get that the carb could well have a clogged up main jet

I have to widen the gap on the points to just under 1/8" by eye for it to run smoothly (49 frt mount) ... may not be right but works well.
