When I start my 9n in neutral it starts like a new one, runs perfect but as soon as I let out on the clutch (transmisson in neutral)it sounds like its under a load and dies. (every time) Any sugestions? Thanks Ron.

when you let the clutch out in neutral.. the input shaft spins.. thus part of the tranny.. that oil in there is a small load.

I'd check to make sure you are fireing on all cyls. an N will start and run on 2-3 cyls fine.. but lack power.

You sure the transmission is not stuck in 2 gears at the same time?? If it is that will cause that. Or since it is winter you could have water in the transmission that has iced up and that will lock it up also. Can you push it and have the rear wheels spin freely or are they locked up

When the clutch is engaged in neutral, the parts that are rotating are: Input shaft, countershaft, reverse idler, PTO drive. If the PTO lever is engaged, the PTO shaft and the hydraulic pump are moving, too.

Try putting the PTO lever in the disengaged position and see if anything changes. If it stays the same, then look into the transmission itself.
