Where would I find the model/serial number off of a Briggs 16hp I/C motor? I have looked, but have not found a plate or impression. The motor is attached to a Lincoln Weldanpower 225.

It will be stamped into the sheet metal "cowling" around the flywheel. Is the engine a flat twin?

I need the model number for the carburetor. It needs a rebuild badly and I have sent it in to a local Briggs shop for repair, and they need to order the right kit.

So you are not seeing it at either of the two locations the red arrows point to in the illustration?

If the Briggs shop doesn't know or can't find the model # are you sure you want them to rebuild your carb? If they're stamped, and there's a little rust/oil/grease/dirt, they may have to scratch around a little to find them.

Found it. I had pulled the carburetor and taken it to them. Anyhow, it was stamped into the shield next to the plug. Had to wire brush it up good to read it.
