Odds and Ends questions for my '48 8n

1). What air pressure for 12.4 X 28 tires on an 8n. I got 10 lbs. in mine and it still looks like it's running on the center of the tread. I'd like to have the standard size tires but these came with the rims and they're almost new.
2). New oil pressure gauge leaks at the line connection on the back. Line looks good. I can't get it to stop and don't want to goop it up with sealer or torque on the nut any more either.
3). How is the distributor lubricated? ("48 front mount)Mist from the engine or what? The last time I put points in mine I put a little light grease on the shaft where it rides in the bushings. I wonder if the grease would hold dirt and wear the bushings prematurely.
4). Where in the dash panel is the accepted spot for a water temp gauge? I want to add one as soon as I can get around to it.

That"s it for now. Thanks.

14 psi, Your oil leak could be a crack fitting, tube or gauge, crossed threads, crack or improper flair or flair matings scared or not mating. Take it apart and check. Get yourself some manuals they will be very helpful.

The bushing is Oil-lite and needs no outside oil. You can paint your tractor any color you want and put a gauge where ya can or want.

I run about 12 psi in mine. 12.4's mounted on the original 9 inch rims will
look bulged a little, but won't hurt anything.
The new oil gauge may be of inferior quality, specially if you bought a cheap one.
The threads in it may not have close enough tolerance to seal correctly
without pipe dope.
Can't help much with the temp gauge. I'd put it in a visible place, not blocked by
the steering wheel, that looks pleasing to you.

Even at the 10 lbs. I got in mine they ride kind of high. The outer inch or inch and a half don't touch the ground. This is the bare tractor with no implements attached.
The oil pressure gauge came from this site, I believe, or nnalert site. I don't think the fitting is cracked as I can torque it down pretty good. I'll check on that.
thanks.

I never had the tractor running with the old gauge in it. The original gauge was full of oil. The first new one had the fitting for the line offset toward the bottom of the gauge. The next new one is the one on it now and it's leaked from the get go. I cleaned the flair with an old rifle bore brush and didn't see any cracks. Gonna have to wait for a warmer day than the one I got now, though.
Thanks.

yr,s ago i worked as a farm tire repair man. the genral rule was no more then 1 1/2 times the tire with. so no more then 16 lb. Bob

The best way it set your tire pressure is to read the tread. Drive on the pavement then onto a gravel drive You will then see how much of the tread is touching the ground and adjust accordingly. I know on my 8-n that I have to run a little more pressure when I have my wheel wts on. I would guess around 10-12 would be a good starting point. To much air and the tread won't lay flat. To little air then the tread will show wear on the sides-end of the tread. If you normally have something heavy like a grader box on the tractor you might need to add a little air so that the side walls don't bulge out.
