They make a solid state cut-out for 9&2N's......the technology is available to do it for a v/r for 6v or 12v on 8N's as well as other tractors. Seems like someone somewhere could make some money doing that.

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeA few years back, I talked to Mr. Jeffers & for $80, you send him your old regulator & he installs SS internals in you housing & sends it back to you.

below is one he did that was written up on a Corvette web site.

Still 6volt after his work? JMOR, have you been satified with his work? (I assume so since you mentioned it.)

unfortunately, not a good assumption as I do not have first hand experience with his product. Wish I could say that I did. I have talked with him at length and can say that he is not a wet behind the ears novice! He knows Generator details that many so called experts haven't even imagined yet. I trust him.

nice looking.

more parts than I would have thought needed.

just need field curent control transistor.. perhaps a comparitor circuit and a solid state device ( big slicon) for the cutout...

still.. real nice looking..

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to seeIf I recall, his has a Hall effect current sensor & does all 3 functions of old school VRs, cut out, voltage reg, and current regulation.
