I rebuilt the genny last year so i know it wasn't jumping brushes. as I recall I went thru 2 vregs geting one that kinda worked. well it gave up.. somewhat. I hooked back up a tickle switch I had built using a couple resistors.. one a ford front mount resistor.. with a 3 position center off switch.. one position low charge.. one position high charge. finished pulling the pasture.. did run out of gas once.. :) oops. If the NAPA is now around $80 then I can't see much difference between it and the solid state v-reg--if it is a marked upgrade and you essentially have a longer lasting product. I would give it a shot next time my v-reg goes out, and when I do I will report back after about a month's worth of work. [Reply]  [No Email]

I made the switch and switched over all I worked on to the SS reg... That was about the time it became law to have the headlights on all the time,,,All the gen's were happy with them the batterys stayed up better than before.... I have no more 6 volt tractors on the place because of junky regulators and the money I wasted on them. The only thing here that has a regulator on it is the grain truck with the 12 volt genny. When that thing gives me fits that is getting an alternator, too. It is the original so it should outlast me. Unless someone does a little "midnight auto" to use on their equipment - that's about the only way to get a good one! [Reply]  [No Email]

This is not rocket science, just due diligence, and we can't seem to get that from products MIC. All we ask is that we get a good, working product for a reasonable price. And if there are specifications that they be met, not close, but exact. I don't want to buy a product rated for +- 10% and get +- 30%. Just do your job and make it work like it should!!! I run a business, that's what I do. I expect nothing less from someone else. My new Napa Echlin VR950 came in today. $84.17 total. Stamped "Made in USA". I'm going to install it tomorrow with my new coil and see how it does. I went through 3 of the MIC VR's in the last 9 months. Hopefully this will all work to specs. Jimps in GA. [Reply]  [No Email]

I get a lot grief from the correct police but there not the ones having to work on them.I do paint them to match the tractor if it is one of mine.A few of my Fords still have the 6 volt systems on them and as long as they work I'll leave them alone If they quit will change them over. I have seen some specialty brackets to mount them high and tight.. and I have seen some conv with cs130 alts. my genny works fine..
