xring 223,To check things ,remove the belt from the generator pulley and jump across the two connection posts on the cutout with a short piece of wire ect.Does that make the generator motor?If not there is something wrong with the generator or wire connections.Post back.

| OK i checked voltage 8.40 I'm running 8V battery took belt off generator jumped relay and it ran in the direction of engine rotation
|

| If the generator is giving 8.4volts to the 8 volt battery, that seems good enough regardless of the ammeter reading. If you run engine at half-throttle speed with lights on does the ammeter show + chrge and volts remain 8.4 across battery?

| The 8v battery is your problem generator won't charge an 8v.

| really my brother has a 928N with an 8 volt batt. and his generator keeps it charged just fine
|

| | for gennies with a vreg.. you have to tweak the vreg to get them to charge 8v. in general.. 8v is a poor bandaid. I'd make 6 work or go 12. if it likes 8.. it will love 12...

| you don't tweak a relay. a 1 wire genny has a 3rd brush you turn up.

| keep an eye on bat voltage at full charge.. don't want to boil it
