You are NOT being dence.....that pic. is confusing to someone that does not use the main jet adjusting screw, like shown in the picture.
The main jet fuel adj. screw on your "N" series M/S carb, is on the front top of your carb, and NOT located as in the pic.
Think of the plug in it's place as an emergency clean out, and was put there as an entrance to the bottom fuel passage, and main jet area. Your carb bowl will prob. never be accessed through that plug.!!!
